Buying a Car in Saskatchewan: Your Rights & FCAA Rules

Last updated October 4, 2026

Saskatchewan regulates vehicle sales through the FCAA (Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan) — with a specific, named “Drive Away Price” requirement and disclosure rules with real teeth. Here's what that actually means for you before you sign anything.

The “Drive Away Price” has to be the real price

Dealers must advertise a "Drive Away Price" that includes all fees and levies up front (tax is added separately) — and must fully disclose known facts about the vehicle's history and condition in writing. Tax is the one thing that's allowed to be added on top — everything else should already be in the number you were quoted.

Dealers must disclose VIN history, odometer issues, and rental use

Disclosure must specifically cover an SGI VIN search, odometer tampering, and rental-fleet history in the last two years. Failing to disclose can entitle you to cancel the contract and get a full refund. If a dealer skips this and you find out later, you're not just stuck — Saskatchewan law gives you a real exit.
